Stripe was launched in 2011 by two brothers from Ireland, Patrick and John Collison. Its headquarters are in San Francisco and Dublin, and the payment processing company has 14 offices around the globe.

Stripe has multiple security measures in place such as using HTTPS  and encrypting card numbers with AES-256.
